Mister MEOWGI had a tough start. He was part of a hoarding situation in which his original owner had 45 cats. He was then remanded to Weber County Shelter where he sat for 6 months without interest. His huge size at 22 pounds and his breed were inhibitors to his adoption. We got the call late at night that he was due to be destroyed. A volunteer from Celestial Zoo picked him up and asked if we could temporarily home him. At 11 pm we showed up. All we could see was a little pink nose. We had no idea of his size. When we let him out at our home he bolted and one of the family said darn thats a full grown dog not a cat!!! Needless to say we were surprised. With time and attention he started integrating into the household. When we took him to his first adoption event as a foster family all I could think of is this is my cat!!! When we brought him into Petsmart people immediately wanted him and as a foster I had first pick. I said nooe this Grumpy guy is ours!!! Unfortunately we weren’t integrating as a family and within 2 days Mister, Angie, and Grace were leaving due to a divorce situation. 😢 Mister became the glue. His human sister had just lost her hair due to Alopecia and with that and the divorce times were dark. Every night he snuggled up with Grace and Angie. He became a beacon in a dark workd. This is not to say he was an Angel lol we called him Mister Grumpy for a reason he would howl for hours if his food wasn’t just right or if he didn’t get to sleep in the bed. Within 6 months another wonderful person entered Misters life. Chris!!! Mister initially didn’t trust male humans and so we warned Chris he might not like him right away. As soon as he saw Chris he jumped into his lap and the rest was history. Mister was our moving buddy in 3 moves and was always our constant. He was there for the engagement of Angie and Chris. He especially loved his furry brother Edgar a Norwegian Forest Cat also a foster fail. Mister loved food (22 pounds to show for it) He loved his naps and trying to get on the bed every night!!! Until his passing he was super healthy. We want to warn other pet owners that he did pass due to a commercially available pet diffuser. Please don’t use these even on the advice of a vet. We hope he slipped away peacefully and quickly. We miss the songs of his people yowled at 3 am and his Grumpy looks when we got home if we didn’t feed him quick enough. He was a beautiful Maine coon and Persian mix the vet said he’d never seen another like him. He had beautiful yellow 👀 eyes. He is survived by his pet family Opal, Wicket, Edgar, and Gizmo and his human Co horts…Chris, Grace, and briefly Jay and Gerry who also shared a special bond with him. We will see you on the rainbow bridge. Rest in the arms of Grandpa Jim and play with my Angel baby until I return home to you.
